We mainly talk about focus, patience, strength and every thing to be perfect but it majorly takes a lot of hard work for this all. Mr. Abhinav Tyagi is IPS who graduated from Delhi Technological University and did aim of UPSC. My conversation with him was very interesting and knowledgeable. It always takes time to get on yourself and know what you want to become, Mr. Abhinav may have taken little time but he got on his own to fulfill his dreams, even after working in top companies he realized all in his life he wanted to serve nation and help people.
With the All India Rank 150, he said its all about you on how much hard work you can do, you can even crack UPSC in a year. Focus and Patience are definitely keywords which are required while preparing for UPSC. As per as Mr. Abhinav, Patience is when someone feels stable and outputs are not there but you still give your best (i.e; inputs) and you still don't get disheartened and you still keep pushing yourself and give your inputs, as such UPSC is not a exam where you get instant feedback. Focus is looking for something bigger picture, as Mr. Abhinav said," I did not write UPSC to get a good job, I did it to help people, so whenever I feel like why did I leave job and come here my focus was something that did keep on track to help people". Mr. Abhinav did take coaching for his optional subject as he did choose history, his strategy is to LIMIT RESOURCES AND REPEAT THOSE, learning never stops even after reading NCERT 10 times there will be new facts rising so reading should be continuous and resources should be limited. According to him, Optional subjects should be the one that you're interested in and solving paper is main part of preparation as it gives benchmark on how much is done and how much more one has to improve about. Mr. Abhinav did made separate notes for prelims and mains, where in prelims he focused for all objective and facts oriented and for mains he did choose monthly newspaper module where he could also summarize the context and he did subdivided notes while reading newspaper. Mr. Abhinav has definitely fulfilled his dreams and is trying his best to do great things for our country and motivating other aspirants.
